Hendra was born, raised in Medan, Indonesia. Left the city after high school graduation in 1992, he was admitted to the economic faculty in university of Indonesia in Depok, West Jawa and got his bachelor degree in accounting in 1997.

By the end of 1996 Hendra joined Arthur Andersen as a junior auditor and left the firm almost 3 years later, to join Samuel Sekuritas Indonesia by the end of 1999 as an equity analyst and later on as a web site developer and then back again as an equity analyst and then involved in corporate finance works while also at the same time  act  as  a  prolonged interim legal officer.

By May 2009 Hendra left Samuel to pursue his dreams of so many things: to go back to school and/or to join some ventures with friends and/or to write books.
